Framing the right problem is equally or even more important than solving it.

About This Quote

If we frame the problem the right way, we can solve it. And that’s what we should focus on. Framing the problem is more important than solving it. Why? Because when you get the problem perfectly right, you can get a solution to it.

If you get the framing of the problem wrong, you won’t solve it. Take, for instance, one of my favorite films ever, “The Social Network” in which two brilliant students who don’t have much in common have to figure out how to create a social networking site for college students. The film shows us how they came up with the idea.

They both independently came up with the same solution but thought about their ideas differently. This is an example of framing by thinking differently about things that are not obvious to most people.
